Two major projects showcase device encryption and monitoring
Device Authority, a global leader in policy and device-driven security automation for IoT, has announced its involvement with two major smart manufacturing facilities in the UK and Europe, utilizing PTC’s ThingWorx and Kepware technologies.
Device Authority has been working with partner PTC on a Secure Smart Factory Demonstrator at the European 4.0 Transformation Centre in Aachen, Germany. The latest release includes an MQTT Device Agent, which allows PTC to build security into an existing ThingWorx Demonstrator located at E4TC.
Encrypted Monitoring
The primary use case is to encrypt energy consumption data, sourced from physical machines on the factory floor, before it is transported securely back to ThingWorx for analysis and monitoring; to improve operations, service and support. Device Authority’s KeyScaler platform provides critical security to eliminate the risk of industrial espionage attacks for commercial and economic purposes.
“The Industrial IoT has a huge potential for improving manufacturing efficiencies, productivity and safety, however it is critical that the data is secured from creation to consumption and the devices are authorized. Working with PTC, we can provide a secure solution for smart factories”, said Darron Antill, CEO of Device Authority.
Device Authority is also currently working with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in Sheffield to secure a milling machine which utilizes PTC’s Kepware KEPServerEX. Data is retrieved from the milling machine by KEPServerEX and secured using KeyScaler’s policy-driven encryption and active device authentication before sending onto ThingWorx for analysis.
PTC and InVMA will showcase securing smart factories at an interactive seminar day at the AMRC on February 2nd alongside a demonstration and much more. Register.
