Phillips launch IntelliSpace Universal Data Manager

Philips have announced the commercial availability of its high-performance IntelliSpace Universal Data Manager.

The solution provides a scalable, secure, interoperable data management solution that supports healthcare enterprises in organising large data sets, including millions of images and other data from multiple sources, and quickly delivering them to virtually any clinician throughout their health network. The IntelliSpace Universal Data Manager complements the Philips IntelliSpace healthcare informatics portfolio, including the IntelliSpace PACS radiology workflow management applications and IntelliSpace Portal advanced visualisation and quantification platform.

Today’s conventional medical image archive solutions focus on multi-vendor compatibility but they often times compromise on performance and scalability. Philips’ new interoperable IntelliSpace Universal Data Manager is different and allows for integration and universal management and scalability to meet healthcare providers current and future needs, helping them to deliver better, more holistic patient care without compromising on system performance.

The IntelliSpace Universal Data Manager delivers enhanced image lifecycle support, configurable storage options and full scalability, while also meeting the performance demands of larger radiology departments. Many healthcare organizations have challenges managing the millions of images and other data that are often stored in decentralized systems and infrastructures from multiple vendors across many clinical departments and locations. These images range from X-ray, CT and MR-scans made by their radiology, cardiology and oncology departments to the digital photos taken by dermatology and plastic surgery as part of a consultation. With the IntelliSpace Universal Data Manager, radiologists and clinicians can access relevant multi-discipline medical images for a more complete and integrated view of their patients’ medical conditions over time. The data management solution works with multi-vendor imaging modalities and storage systems and supports medical imaging standards to leverage existing investments.

“Chief Information Officers at healthcare enterprises face complex IT landscapes and are seeking more effective data management strategies,” said Yair Briman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Healthcare IT for Philips. “Philips is committed to offering sophisticated solutions that are universal, interoperable, and help organizations with the challenge of integrating the proliferation of ordered and non-ordered images, reigning in spiraling operational costs and providing easy access to patient records.”

The Universal Data Manager will leverage the capabilities of Philips HealthSuite with the aim to further expand its features and possibilities for enterprise-wide, and between hospital enterprises, medical image accessibility.

Philips IntelliSpace is an integrated portfolio of professional healthcare informatics solutions providing clinical workflow, decision support and patient management capabilities. The IntelliSpace Universal Data Manager works seamlessly with IntelliSpace PACS and IntelliSpace Portal to help deliver diagnostic and treatment confidence in radiology, cardiology, oncology, neurology and other clinical domains.

The new technology will be showcased at booth #6735 at the RSNA Annual Meeting, taking place Nov. 27 – Dec. 2, in Chicago, IL.
