Spirent offers carriers actionable intelligence

Spirent Communications have announced the introduction of Spirent VisionWorks, a solution that provides carriers with the intelligence required to detect, isolate, and address network and service issues before they impact customers.

By combining active test agents and intelligent analytics, VisionWorks provides actionable results to network operations teams and automated network control systems.

“Our carrier customers have asked for a solution for the operational network that combines the proactive troubleshooting capabilities of Spirent Landslide lab test solutions with powerful analytics capabilities,” said David Stehlin, general manager of Spirent Communications’ Next Generation Service Assurance business.

“VisionWorks is the first solution to provide end-to-end active visibility across all network and service layers, and deliver actionable intelligence down to the interface and protocol level.  It enables carriers to detect and isolate issues, and to validate resolutions before customers are impacted.”

Spirent VisionWorks has recently been deployed in tier 1 carriers to automate identification and isolation of network and service issues which have typically been done manually. The initial release of VisionWorks includes use cases for:

  • Validation of mobile enterprise services to detect service degradation and ensure SLAs
  • Ensuring consistent performance of video, social media and communication applications
  • Monitoring Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) to detect and isolate call quality issues and one-way-calls
  • Verification of mobile and IMS Core upgrades and new installations to eliminate faults due to misconfiguration

“Carriers must increase the pace of introduction of new services but are struggling to scale traditional service assurance solutions to manage the network’s performance,” said Monica Paolini, president, Senza Fili Consulting.

“To ensure the success of new and existing services, operators need proactive visibility solutions to provide identification of issues and the ability to identify the source, resolve and validate the fix automatically.”
